Islamabad United – PSL 4
The defending champions are the most successful side in the three-year history of the PSL, having won the first tournament in 2015, as well as last year. They have an overall win percentage of 61.
Former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram, who was the mentor of the Islamabad United squad, has decided to quit and join the newest franchise, Multan. Australia’s Dean Jones is the head coach while Shoaib Akhtar is the bowling coach for Islamabad United.
The team is beautifully balanced on paper and they can go in with a variety of combinations. Also, with the kind of coaches they have, it will be very disappointing if they do not go very far in the tournament.
The 2019 edition of the PSL will be the first season in which the Islamabad United will be without Misbah ul Haq who has decided to hang up his boots.

Lahore Qalandars – PSL 4
Lahore Qalandars is the second most expensive franchise of PSL or Pakistan Super League. The team is representing Punjab province in the tournament. The team is owned by Fawad Rana who is the owner of Qatar Lubricants Company Limited (QALCO). Mohammad Hafeez is the current captain of Lahore Qalandars. Aqib Javed is the head coach whereas Kabir Zaman is the assistant coach. Gaddafi Stadium Lahore is the home ground of Lahore Qalandars. The Qalandars have also brought in Hassan Khan and Rahat Ali and let go of Sunil Narine and Umar Akmal to the Quetta Gladiators.

Quetta Gladiators – PSL 4
Quetta Gladiators is regarded as the underdogs of Pakistan Super League as up till they surprised everyone with their performance in PSL. The team is representing province of Balochistan in the tournament. The team is owned by Nadeem Omer who is the owner of Omer Associates. Sarfraz Ahmed is the current captain of Quetta Gladiators. However, he also led the team in previous 3 editions. Moin Khan is serving as the team’‘s coach since PSL 2016. Bugti Stadium Quetta is the home ground of Quetta Gladiators.
The Gladiators also retained nine players pre-Draft for the fourth season of the PSL with captain Sarfraz Ahmed being one of two belonging to the Platinum category. The other in that same category is Sunil Narine, West Indies mystery spinner who has had bowling action issues but has bounced back really well each time.

Karachi Kings – PSL 4
Karachi Kings is the largest franchiser of PSL or Pakistan Super League. The team is representing Sindh province in the tournament. The team is owned by Salman Iqbal who is the owner of ARY Group and the CEO of ARY Digital Network.Imad Wasim is the current captain of Karachi Kings. He also led the team in PSL 2018. Mickey Arthur is the head coach whereas Azhar Mahmood is the assistant coach. National Stadium Karachi is the home ground of Karachi Kings. Babar Azam is the leading run scorer for Karachi Kings as he scored 693 runs in 21 innings with the average of 36.47. Mohammad Amir is the leading wicket taker for Karachi Kings as he took 26 wickets in 28 matches with the average of 25.57.
The players in the Gold category will be Mohammad Rizwan and Ravi Bopara, retained from last year after a decent showing too.
In what came as very interesting news, legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi was let go by the side and he won’t be featuring for them any more. Who they get in place of him as a Platinum player will be much to look out for given they now have an extra place freed up for it.
The side was bought by Salman Iqbal owned Any Media Group for a whopping price of $2.4 million US dollars. They have appointed former South African international coach Mickey Arthur as their manager while former Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed will serve as his assistant and bowling coach. Multan Sultans – PSL 4
Multan Sultans is the newest among all franchises of PSL or Pakistan Super League. The team is representing Southern Punjab region in the tournament. The team was previously owned by Schon Properties but now Ali Tareen is the new owner. However, he is the son of renowned politician Jahangir Tareen. Shoaib Malik is the current captain of Multan Sultans. However, he also led the team in PSL 2018. Johan Botha is the head coach whereas Nadeem Khan is the team manager. Multan Cricket Stadium is the home ground of Multan Sultans.
In the Diamond category of cricketers, Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan will join the setup while the Gold Category retention is top-order batsman Shan Masood.
Test match gun bowler Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Irfan Khan and Umar Siddiq are the three Silver Category players while Mohammad Junaid becomes just the second Emerging player to be retained in the side.
Wasim Akram joined the squad as the cricket operations director of the side and Tom Moody joins the team as their head coach and they can be expected to remain a part of the set-up even for the new team.

Peshawar Zalmi – PSL 4
Peshawar Zalmi is regarded as the most favorite franchise of PSL or Pakistan Super League as it has a large number of supporters in both Pakistan and UAE. The team is representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the tournament. The team is owned by Javed Afridi who is the owner of Haier Pakistan. Darren Sammy is the current captain of Peshawar Zalmi. However, he also led the team in PSL 2017 and 2018. Mohammad Akram is the head coach whereas Younis Khan and Saqlain Mushtaq are the batting coach and spin bowling consultant respectively. Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar is the home ground of Peshawar Zalmi. The team logo and name were revealed on 13th December 2015. A Pashto language word “Zalmi” was used in team’‘s name which means youth. However, the traditional Peshawari turban with cricket stumps is infused on logo. On the other side, white, yellow, and blue shades in the logo represent skies, people’‘s energy, and region’‘s pride. However, blue and yellow are the colors of team kit.
the Zalmis have retained two platinum players in the form of Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali, two of the best Pakistan pacers in their own right. Sammy, who is expected to lead them will be a part of the Diamond category along with former Pakistan keeper Kamran Akmal.
In the Gold Category, the Zalmis have held on to Liam Dawson while Umaid Asif and Khalid Usman, also retained, belong to the Silver Category. Interestingly, the Zalmis have also retained an emerging player from the previous season in the form of Sameen Gul.
Peshawar Zalmi’s performance in the Pakistan Super League has been a terrific one. They went to claim their maiden PSL trophy in 2017 after having made the playoffs in the first season and this was followed by another brilliant 2018 edition in which they lost to the Islamabad United in the final.
As a result, after the Islamabad side, the Zalmis are the second-best performing team in the PSL.
